What advice would you give a student to help as they apply to college?

Making the decision to go to college is one of the most important choices in a person's life. Choosing an area of study can often be difficult, but educating yourself on the options and resources available to you are essential to your overall success. My advice would be to do your research, adhere to deadlines, and confide in the faculty and staff with any questions you may have. We are here to assist you in every step of the way.

What advice would you give a student to help them navigate college?

From a first-time college student to a non-traditional student, every person is faced with hardships and uncertainty. Never be afraid to ask for help. College is an incredible experience where you grow as an individual in many ways. Be flexible, step out of your comfort zone, and never make giving up an option.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is Humanities Hall! From the moment I stepped in the building, I fell in love with the artwork and the flow of creativity that emitted from the classrooms.

Describe your favorite thing to do in Southwest Florida.

I am new to Southwest Florida, so I am still exploring! I love learning about the culture of a city and the Fort Myers area has a lot to offer. My favorite thing to do is spend the day at the beach with my family.

What do you enjoy most about Southwest Florida?

Location! Southwest Florida has so many beautiful beaches and places to visit. We are only a few hours from the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area as well as Orlando, which makes it a perfect opportunity to relax and travel on the weekends.

What do you enjoy most about Florida SouthWestern State College?

FSW is truly a wonderful place to study. There are many options for students who are interested in establishing a solid foundation in their educational journey. The faculty and staff are dedicated to higher education and the student's success.

What are your hobbies, interests or community involvement?

I enjoy reading, writing, learning, working on cars, and going to Disney. I am passionate about literary criticism and focused my undergraduate research on Modernism and the works of Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. I am currently pursuing a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration and hope to continue focusing my career path to help students achieve their goals.

What advice would you give a student to help as they apply to college?

Have an idea of what your interests are, and don't be afraid to pursue it. Looking at colleges can be stressful, but ultimately should be a fun experience that will help set the foundation for your future goals.

What advice would you give a student to help them navigate college?

Be willing to put yourself out there and to try new things. There are many challenges you will face, but the things that can make it scary or overwhelming are what ultimately make the experience worth it. You will grow as an individual and learn so much about yourself and the world around you.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the Library for two reasons. One, is most definitely the books! The second reason is the Rush gallery is right below. Two of my favorite things under one roof.

Describe your favorite thing to do in Southwest Florida.

My favorite thing to do is either go to the beach or check out some of the nature trails and preserves in the area.

What do you enjoy most about Southwest Florida?

What I enjoy most about SW Florida is the wildlife, nature, and history of the area. I feel like there are so many hidden gems here, it's worth taking the time to explore and learn more.

What do you enjoy most about Florida SouthWestern State College?

What I enjoy most about Florida SouthWestern State College is the environment here. Everybody is exceptionally friendly, so you always see a smiling face no matter the day.

What are your hobbies, interests or community involvement?

I really love a challenge and pushing myself to do things that may be out of my comfort zone. I love reading, painting, and really anything artsy or remotely historic. I also love anything to do with animals and being around them.

What advice would you give a student to help as they apply to college?

Know your options! Visit! We are always quick to make decisions without weighing out all the options. Do your research and find out which college is the right fit for you.

What advice would you give a student to help them navigate college?

Keep an open mind. College is not only about learning and pursuing a degree in your field of choice, it's also about challenging your own ideas and beliefs to help you grow as a full well-rounded individual.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

I enjoy visiting many different spots on campus but my favorite would have to be the Bob Rauschenberg Art Gallery. The gallery hosts different exhibits throughout the year to allow a variety of artists to showcase their artwork. It's really interesting to learn about the history of the artist and what inspired their work.

Describe your favorite thing to do in Southwest Florida.

I like to go to visit local events in the community. I also like to visit the beach and the parks.

What do you enjoy most about Florida SouthWestern State College?

I enjoy the students who come through our doors ready to learn and make a difference within the community. I also enjoy the caring faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping the students succeed and reach new heights.

What are your hobbies, interests or community involvement?

Some of my favorite things are the gym, taekwondo, country line dancing, singing, spending time with family and friends, and going to the beach.

What advice would you give a student to help as they apply to college?

Make sure you do everything in a timely fashion. You never know what opportunities you might miss out on if you wait until the last minute.

Never be afraid to ask questions and never be embarrassed to ask for help.

Inspiration Garden on the Thomas Edison Campus.

Take a stroll along the river district in Downtown Fort Myers.

What do you enjoy most about Southwest Florida?

I love the weather. Always nice and sunny, year-round. Perfect for a beach day!

Going to the beach, reading, watching baseball, and baking.
